ACS Neighborhood Networks

A public-private partnership to build the relationship between ACS contracted services and the communities they serve. These networks help ACS coordinate services at the local level, and provide a forum where the community-based organizations can share resources and ideas, as well as assess and place for child welfare services. |

ACS Community Partnerships Initiative (CPI) |
ACS has committed to provide 11 grants to a community coalition in each of the community districts where NYC children are most vulnerable to abuse and neglect. Acting as the moderator and technical support of various working sessions, ACT was played a key part in helping these communities address serious issues and create a plan for community involvement to improve child welfare outcomes.

Youth Public Policy and Advocacy |
Inspired by the success and structure of California Youth Connections, ACT is seeking to create a youth-led foster care advocacy project. Using a combination of youth development principles, advocacy, and organizing skill building, the purpose is to pursue systemic changes in foster care. The model strives to give foster care youth a voice in the policy making and implementation process that impacts on their daily lives.

Informing More Parents Across the Community Together (IMPACT) |
A family resource center in Bushwick, Brooklyn that builds parent leadership, provides family support and promotes family literacy. Targeting parents and caretakers of children under either, IMPACT is primarily staffed by parent advocates who provide on-site outreach, referrals, and peer support for child care, education, special needs, enrichment, and other social services. IMPACT also provides community wide literacy programs, leadership training, and parent workshops.

Turnaround for Children Family Engagement Model |
As part of CMHA's comprehensive school-based mental health initiative, ACT is supporting the partnership with the Washington Heights community. This project helps schools by building their skills and capacity to provide supports to high-needs children and their families and helping schools connect children to mental health services, if needed.

The Bridge Builders: To Preserve the Families of Highbridge |
For four years, a group of human service organizations known as the Bridge Builders Project has been working together to positively influence a set of core child welfare outcomes by focusing on child welfare prevention strategies in the Highbridge community of the Bronx.

One City/One Community |
Conceived by 10 City agencies, One City / One Community is a three-year case coordination / service integration project in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Aimed at reducing client service duplication and informing policy reform, One City uses a case conferencing model to assist local agency workers with resolving issues for families receiving services from multiple agencies. Systems change is a major aspect this initiative and the lessons learned from the case conferences will help to inform changes in how the City delivers services to individuals and families.

ACS Minority-Governed, Community Based Child Welfare Agency Task Force |
Working with ACS, this the Task Force seeks to create a fund which provides financial and technical assistance to sustain and strengthen the current core of minority governed child welfare agencies, as well as expand their base to provide culturally competent, family oriented and prevention-focused services to children and families within the child welfare system.

Administration for Children’s Services Immigration Project |
The goal of the Immigrant Community Partners pilot project is to create partnerships between Children’s Services, contract agencies, and community groups serving immigrant communities in New York City to improve access and quality of child welfare services, and to assist immigrants in need of child welfare services.
