"We worked together. It was like a family."
~ Informal Child Care Provider

Informal Child Care Providers

This program is designed for all Informal Child Care Providers, whether they are grandparents, neighbors, friends or others. ACT convenes meeting with these dedicated individuals at least once a month in the Bushwick and Washington Heights communities. There, providers meet one another and establish a peer support group.

They gain valuable information including:

*participating in the child and adult care food program
*accessing child care resources and referrals
*finding family day care training and networks

Other discussions address how caretakers can make the most of their role in children's lives.

These conversations focus on:
*the family day care certification process
*the importance of play
*activities for young children
*child development
*discipline
